The Only Way You’ll Ever Build a Profitable Home-Based Business

When I ask you what is standing in your way of building a successful (i.e. profitable) business, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

Is it something in YOUR control?  Or is it in SOMEONE ELSE’S control?

If you answered with anything other than something directly about yourself, you’re allowing yourself to “blame” others for your inability to grow.

You may believe your upline or sponsor isn’t supportive enough, or didn’t train you well enough, or isn’t there for you.  You may believe that the product just isn’t an easy sell or isn’t in high demand.  You may believe that the company makes it too difficult or doesn’t have what you need to succeed.

It’s easier to blame others – most people do. It’s easier to say it just wasn’t “for me” than it is to actually put in the enormous effort required to make things happen on your own.

It’s easier to follow the crowd than it is to find your own path –but who said building a successful home business was easy? It’s not!  It’s really hard!

Sadly, over 95% of all people who sign up in a network marketing company quit within their first year. They quit because they thought it would be fairly easy but yet they see little to no results, get frustrated, and start pointing fingers (mainly at their upline or their company).

The truth of the matter is, it takes hard work and perseverance to join a business opportunity, build an online presence, brand yourself as an expert, earn the public’s trust, and close enough sales to earn that extra $500 every month so you can start paying your way out of debt and achieve financial independence (or whatever your goals are).

If you want to build a profitable home-based business, you have to realize that each and every failure –and therefore, every success– is a product of the things YOU do and who YOU are.

Every single stumble along the way is part of the learning curve and the journey.  If it was easy, everyone would do it!  But you’re not everyone!

Take OWNERSHIP of your own mistakes and change your focus to what you can learn from that mistake; turn it into a positive.  It’s going to make a great story in the end.

The moment you take CONTROL of your life and your business is the moment you’ll stop making excuses and start finding solutions!

This is the only way you, or anyone else, will have a successful business.

Now go back to that first question and answer it again – – What is standing in your way of building a successful (i.e. profitable) business?

Very interesting…”you’re the one standing in the way of your own success”…very nicely written!

This is a very valuable article, Emily! This makes plenty of sense. In the end, yes, I’m the only one that stands in the way of my success be it as a home-based business owner or anything else. Thank you for this!

We are full of excuses and typically are ready to place blame somewhere else. Once we accept that the reason the way things are exists because of what we have done (or not done) in the past.

Ownership. period. Own it, accept it, and move on… Let’s take ownership of where we want to go.

I do think a good upline can make a big difference, it certainly has for me but ultimately it’s all down to a lot of hard work

Agreed – a strong upline can definitely help. But in the end, a great upline won’t give you success. Combined with your own commitment is when success comes. Thanks for the comment Janet!

Absolutely. When you run your own business it’s ALL on you. No excuses. Great advice.
