How to Massively Grow Your Business with Little or No Rejection

If you’re like me, you want to STOP approaching friends, family, strangers on the street (let's face it - everyone!), or people at parties about your business.

I mean, do people ever really say “yes?”  All I heard was “no,” “no thank you,” and “I’m not interested.”  (Ok…and plenty of not so polite ways of saying no).

No business owner can avoid rejection.  It is inevitable…in all its ugly forms.  At first it may not seem so bad but eventually you start to doubt yourself, what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.

“Can I really DO this?” you may ask yourself in your head.

You start to give up on your “why.”  Your dreams seem out of reach.

Sound familiar?

This sheer amount of rejection has a big effect on your mindset.  In fact, it’s one of the top reasons people quit. So what do we do?

Well, here’s one way to deal with it….
Reduce the amount of exposure you have to people who are NOT interested in your business.

That includes no longer being in “prospecting mode” every time you’re surrounded by people.

Doesn’t that sound refreshing?

I’m going to show you how you can grow your business with little or no rejection using three strategies.  Don’t think it’s possible?  I didn’t either but hear me out.

Target Your Ideal Prospect

While it’s important to know what to say, when to say it and how to say it while presenting your business to others; it’s most important to know and understand WHO you’re talking to.

Knowing and having a deep understanding for WHO you want to talk to should be your first objective. 

Inviting people to take a look at what you’re doing becomes a whole lot easier when you’re talking to your ideal prospect. 

When the WHO is met, the what to say, when to say it and how to say it comes so much easier because there’s much less natural resistance.

So now I’m sure you’re asking - how do I decide who my ideal prospect is?

  1. Make a list of what struggles a prospect (and customer) would have that you can solve. Make the list extensive.
  2. Make a list of what desires a prospect (and customer) would have that you could provide. In other words, what outcomes are they looking for?
  3. Make a list of key words and language they may use that is unique to your products, their pains and their desires.

Study this list and use it when talking to people.

Ask questions! Find out if someone is your ideal prospect by asking them all kinds of questions.  Ask questions around the struggles and outcomes you’ve identified above; also using the language you’ve identified.

This will allow you to decide whether it’s worth the energy to tell them about your opportunity or products.

And when you tell them about your opportunity and products, you can phrase it all about how you can HELP them. It’s so much easier because you’re aware of what their pains and desires are.

You are focusing on how YOU CAN SERVE THEM – NOT HOW THEY CAN HELP YOU.

Attract People to YOU

Now that you know who your ideal prospect is, you can draw those prospects to you without having to go out and find them.

People start asking YOU about what you're doing.  How’s that for drastically reducing rejection?

Using this strategy, you might end up rejecting THEM!  Say what?

Now I know what you’re thinking, “this sounds too good to be true.”  That’s what I thought at first too.  But it’s true – I have people reaching out to me. 

Part of this process is to build a following on an email list and on social media – and no joke – people will start coming to YOU asking what you’re doing. It’s crazy – I know!  But it works! 

A System for Turning Your Prospects into Recruits and Customers

Okay, here's the big one.  

This last strategy can virtually end rejection and still massively grow your business.  You need to set up a predictable system for turning these ideal prospects into recruits and customers.

By using a proven system that helps you find and filter your prospects, you eliminate non-qualified prospects without even having talked with them!

You end up only talking one-on-one with prospects who are already interested in what you have to offer.  What?!  A dream, right?

Life is much easier when clients come to you vs. you chasing them. Good marketing is not only about attracting your ideal client, it is also about repelling something that is NOT your ideal client.

Sometimes it can feel odd turning away potential business, and in many cases, you may be better off.

Great Post! I love attraction marketing <3 When you are only looking for your ideal clients, it takes a lot of pressure off of you. Your ideal clients are out there ready and eager to buy your products and services, and they will fall in love with you.

One way that I always look at handling rejection, is I'm just a hostess at a party, offering a cookie. It doesn't matter if they take it or not. The only reason one feels rejected is that they are putting a lot of stake in that one contact or that one client. It's not the end of the world. Find those who want your cookies and watch your business soar!
